Episode 104 comes out this Saturday, and it's a special one. I want to celebrate the great B-Movie actor Tom Atkins, and I'm pairing it with River to River German Pilsner, provided by my friends at @singlespeedbrewingco. Tom has had a singularly wonderful career, and had been a big part of my movie viewing life, from The Fog, to Creepshow, Escape From New York, and all time classic Night of the Creeps. And that's just a small slice of his great career. He grew up in the blue collar world of Pittsburgh, PA, the son of a steel worker, and I thought it made sense to pair this one with a solid Pilsner from my blue collar home state. Get your favorite beverage ready and tune in this Saturday. 🍻

Episode 103: The Big Heat, with Ruekeller Helles, provided by Placentia's The Bruery. This is one tight, vicious little picture about a good cop pushed to the edge when gangsters blow up his life. Big thanks to The Bruery for giving me their Helles, a light, full flavored beer that pairs great with this intense, fantastic picture starring Glenn Ford, Gloria Grahame and Lee Marvin.🍻

Ep. 102: Repo Man, with Shivaya Wild Ale, from Cellador Ales

Friday May 17, 2024
Episode 102 drops today, and it's a blast. Repo Man, with Shivaya Dry Hopped wild ale, from @cellador_ales. Emilio Estevez gives one of my favorite performances as Otto, a nihilistic punk in mid 80s Los Angeles, who gets tangled up with salty repo man Bud, played by legend Harry Dean Stanton. Oh, and there's a '64 Chevy Malibu with highly radioactive aliens in the trunk. And one of the best soundtracks ever. All this paired with a peachy, mouth watering wild ale from one of my favorite breweries. Join guest host Jane and me for a damn good time. 🍻

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains, with R&D Vintage 2023, from New Glarus Brewing. Guest host Jane picked this 1982 picture starring Diane Lane as a young woman dealt a series of devastating, life altering blows in a short amount of time. She takes her sister and cousin on the road with a couple bands and creates a movement. There's some great music from punk legends, who also play roles in the film. I paired it with a New Glarus award receiving sour, that is one hell of a good time.

Beer and B-Movies reaches its 100th episode. I'll be covering a number of topics from the first 99 episodes, from favorite movies to forgettable, awful, and dumb movies. But I have to shout out all the breweries that have contributed their products to episodes. And for this one, I have the Big Chef, a barrel aged Barleywine, provided by the great folks at Court Avenue Brewing. Thank you for the support, it's much appreciated.

Sam Raimi detonated onto the horror scene in 1981 with this grueling, wild picture, starring the man himself, Bruce Campbell. The premise is simple: five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods to "party down," and happen upon the Necronomicon and a tape recorder. They unwittingly call forth all sorts of nastiness, and all hell breaks loose, literally. It's independent filmmaking at its finest. To pair with it, I chose Marshall D's Hefeweizen, which the good people at @allertonbrewing gave me. It's me, the movie and the beer this Saturday.

Episode 98: Prophecy
Friday Mar 22, 2024
Friday Mar 22, 2024
Prophecy, John Frankenheimer's 1979 eco-horror about pollution from a logging company in Maine creating mutant plant and wildlife, and an ornery EPA doctor investigating. There's a giant, lumbering mutant bear named Katahdin causing all sorts of trouble, and unintentional comedy.
I paired it with Czech Dark Dark Lager, provided by the wonderful people at @fielddaybeer. It's a smooth, roasty, easy drinking beer that would go great with a Maine camping trip. Just avoid Katahdin. Join me and guest host Jon for the chat. 🍻

Beer and B Movies: Episode 97- I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle
Friday Mar 08, 2024
Friday Mar 08, 2024
The Beer & B-Movies Podcast returns with 1991's I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle, and four beers generously provided by my good friends at @threeweavers. This British comedy horror picture was picked by guest host Jon, and it's something else. A satanic cult is ambushed by some cross bow toting bikers, and in the ensuing melee a motorcycle is possessed by a vampiric demon. Say no more, I'm in. Three Weavers gave us Goldie lager, Cape Weather altbier, Dark & Jammy sour and Cambodian Cowboy Cambodian coffee inspired stout to pair with this one, and it's all a good time. Thank you for listening, and be sure to leave a review.

Beer and B Movies: Episode 96 - Black Christmas (1974)
Friday Dec 08, 2023
Friday Dec 08, 2023
In celebration of the season we're covering Bob Clark's 1974 #slasher Black Christmas. Before Halloween, this terrifying picture laid out the blueprint for the modern slasher (if slasher movies are your bag, check out episode 34 of our podcast, a slasher special). A sick, sick individual is prank calling a sorority, and murdering the inhabitants. It's atmospheric, with a bit of dark humor, and some great camerawork.

Beer and B Movies: Episode 95 - The Big Combo (1955)
Friday Nov 24, 2023
Friday Nov 24, 2023
Episode 95 wraps up #noirvember. The Big Combo, paired up with Radiant Beauty West Coast IPA, which was given to us by the wonderful people at @greencheekbeer. Joseph Lewis directed this gritty picture, with legendary Cinematographer John Alton providing some classic #filmnoir shots. But is it a pure film noir? That's debatable, and debate we do. The new episode drops this Saturday, so mark your calendars and join us.Â
